Dear <mail merge>,

I am writing to ask for your involvement with American Cancer Society's new legislative initiative, the Minnesota Colorectal Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Act and urging you (or your organization) to join us in the fight against colorectal cancer in Minnesota.

Less than two-thirds of Minnesotans who are 50 years old and older report being screened as recommended for colorectal cancer. Insurance status is a significant barrier in accessing preventive care. Therefore, American Cancer Society, in collaboration with members of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance, will be proposing legislation to establish a free statewide screening program, similar to what currently exists for breast and cervical cancers (i.e. the Sage Screening Program).

There are several ways in which you can be involved in this exciting effort.

·         First, you can work through your organization to officially endorse the legislation; we will then add your organization’s name to the list of supporters.

·         Second, we need support in identifying individuals who can volunteer their time to help the campaign.  We will need volunteers to do a number of different things from contacting their lawmakers to expressing their support to attending our Day at the Capitol on March 6, 2008.

Please fill out the attached form to give us permission to use your support publicly and/or to identify resources your organization might contribute to the effort.

We are looking forward to working with you on this very important issue that will help saves lives in Minnesota.

Sincerely,

Corinne Ertz
