Finance Committee Member Job Description


Purpose

The purpose of the Finance Committee is to provide general oversight to funds collected by and disbursed on behalf of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance.  The committee exists in order to monitor income and expenses and make recommendations to the Steering Committee regarding Alliance financial issues.

 

Membership

Finance Committee members will be familiar with the tenets of program management and budgeting.  Membership will consist of a subset of Steering Committee members and at least one staff member from the American Cancer Society, Midwest Division as long as Minnesota Cancer Alliance funds remain c/o the American Cancer Society.  A Core Team member will provide staff support.  

 

Responsibilities

This committee will:

  • Review financial reports prepared by Core Team Staff
  • Propose policies for the future handling of Alliance funds
  • Assist with other budget planning as needed

Time commitment

The work of this committee will take place primarily via e-mail and conference call meetings. Meetings will occur on a quarterly basis and will last no longer than one hour. Between conference calls, members will be expected to review material relevant to future meetings.

 

Term

January 2006- January 2008

 

Reporting

A designated committee member will report to the Steering Committee on behalf of this committee.
