For the past five years, Helen Jackson has been the program director of StairStep Foundation’s "There Is a Balm" initiative, which works with Twin Cities’ churches to help eliminate health disparities among African Americans. Prior to this position, Jackson spent three years coordinating a teen pregnancy prevention program at NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center in North Minneapolis.

Jackson has an undergraduate degree in Biology form the University of Minnesota, a master's degree from Luther Seminary and has completed residency in clinical pastoral education at Hennepin County Medical Center. She has worked several years as a chaplain in trauma centers in the Twin Cities, serves on numerous boards and committees, and is an active member of her church and community.
