KEY POINTS RAISED IN DISCUSSION
Pap Project Team must be able to respond to community or organizational inquiries into the rationale for choosing particular populations, strategies, activities, etc . . . Three key tasks include:
Define project target
Draft objectives
Review & summarize data
We need individuals to take completion of particular tasks. Gaylynn reviewed each task and provided a brief explanation of its requirement.
Makeisha presented an Initiative in her church called "There is a Balm". Each Sunday, there is a specific health topic focus.
Will be doing Friend-to-Friend with a cervical cancer emphasis. Interventions planned to be completed by the end of Fall '06 in all # churches.
Participant information collected will include demographics, screening history, intention/pledge to get screened, and consent for follow-up.
Need help with data analysis and follow-up.
Need students or CHWs/interns |
DECISION/ACTION
Team members agreed to assist others or to serve as the "task leader" for a particular task (see attached list)
Consider adding other churches in North Minneapolis area, including Baptist churches.
Roshon and Gaylynn are finalizing an intake/data collection form.
CHWs (Community Health Workers) would be a good group to assist with collecting, summarizing, and assisting with follow-up.
"Colleges against Cancer" organization offers an opportunity for students to assist as well.

KEY POINTS RAISED IN DISCUSSION
Megerse raised a point that some kind of "project charter" is needed, we must begin to consider this, but keep moving forward with our work.
We also need a "catchy name" that is culturally relevant and meaningful etc . . .
We need to provide documentation in terms of current and existing research literature that supports this model.
Gaylynn has contacted her to discuss experiences et cetera. She is really excited to hear Minnesota is exploring this idea. Their project was called "Sisters in Spirit".
Project team will need to meet more frequently in order to accomplish key tasks in preparation for implementation of the initiative this March.
The working session is an opportunity for task groups to report on what they've completed thus far, challenges experienced, and help need etc . . . |
DECISION/ACTION
"River of Life" was proposed.
Gaylynn is developing a library of literature to support and provide evidence-based rationale for this approach to raising awareness of cervical cancer in hard to reach communities.
Members agreed to meet on a more regular basis and as needed. Gaylynn and others will coordinate meetings. |
