Cervical Cancer Screening Project Team
In Attendance: Makeisha Nesbitt, Kris Oehlke, Megersa Kumbi, Marva Bohen, Linda Roberts, Dai Vu, Shelley, Madigan, Marie Tran, Heidi Martian, Benita Robison, Gay Lynn Richards, Elisabeth Atherly, Liz Moe, Janet Smith Yee and Erin Hedican.
Welcome/ Introductions.
Since there were not new people who were attending this meeting the introduction was not necessary; however, GayLynn Richards open up the meeting by welcoming everyone.
1. Announcements
Kristin Oehlke, State Genomics Coordinator made two announcements- Minnesota State Health Department co-sponsoring two conferences: (a) Public Health Roundtable Series (Genome through Health Disparities to Public Health on April 20, 2006 from 8: 00 to 11:30 am) that is going to be held at the University of Minnesota – Coffman Memorial Union Theater. (b) Cancer Genometics: Moving Beyond the Basics on April 26, 2006 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center from 9:00 to 4:00 pm. Kristin extended her invitation to all interested people to conference.
Pastor’s Wives project management
· The title of the Pastors’ Wives project was discussed. The current proposed title: Purpose, Wisdom, Passion Pastor’s Wives Project was preferred.
· The group discussed in detail how to put together the pieces of information gathered on Pastor’s Wives Project in North Minneapolis in order to integrate “a cervical Friend to Friend Program” into the existing ACS “a breast cancer education program” in a church setting at North Minneapolis. The detail of the work to be done between Benita Robinson and GayLynn Richards and will be presented in up coming meetings.
· First intervention will occur April 29th at He is Risen, Church of God in Christ in north Minneapolis.
· Three other churches will have intervention May /June. Benita has sent an information letter to churches in North Minneapolis and will follow with phone calls to assess interest.
· December is a celebration month.
· ACS, Women’s Cancer Center and SAGE have to work out the details of logistic and operational methods of delivering F2F Cervical Education Program at North Minneapolis.
· Benita Robinson and GayLynn Richards agreed with pastor’s wives to use churches as an intervention site in North Minneapolis. Here budget is not an issue since ACS budgeted for 15 churches.
Promotion /Communication Plan:
· Marva Bohen will write a summary and send it to Nicole. Nicole will develop the plan based on the summary
2. Cervical Cancer Data Base
· Erin identified 200 clinics and made data base for these clinics in the State of Minnesota that can be used for cervical screening. These clinics are very easy to find by using zip codes. Likewise, women can check if they are eligible for the SAGE cervical screening programs based on free and low cost screening.
· GayLynn is looking for a home or website (data base) ACS is interested but, issue of maintenance/budget was not resolved and other details need to be worked out
Budget for Pastors’ Wives project
· GayLynn Richards and Marva Bohen are working on budget for the project.
