1.       Survey release – posted results on BHCAG and Cancer Alliance websites will focus on coverage for various types of counseling and pharmaceuticals – Dr. Burke to prepare contextual narrative

2.       Review of “Distribution of Health Insurance Coverage in Minnesota, 2005.” MDH Issue Brief Dec 2007. showing trends in public, private (fully insured and self-insured) and uninsured from 1998 through 2005

3.       April 22nd Cancer Summit Working session: Expanding Smoking Cessation Benefits  

Planning: Darla Havlicek will be facilitator, Ann Wendling will be presenter, other attending team members will assist with table discussions 

 

  1.  Next Steps

o        Council of Employee Benefits- approach  “value based benefit design” of tobacco cessation benefits - Ann to further explore

o        Smart Buy Alliance  - Kris Soegaard, BHCAG, to check on possibility of presenting at a monthly meeting

o        Health plan newsletters to employers - consider placement of informational pieces - Ann to discuss with health plan helpline partners

o        Discuss importance of cessation benefit coverage with insurance brokers for smaller employers – Darla to investigate feasibility
