Announcements

1.  A lecture re: recruiting minority populations for clinical trials May 9^th 12-1 PM at Moose Tower 2560 at U of M. 

2.  MDH’s Position on HPV vaccine.  Dr. Winnett convened a cross-sectional group from MDH to have a discussion on this topic.  The group realized this is a far-reaching topic that will take some time for discussion. 

3.   Flipcharts: Approval has come from MDH and MCA to print the flipcharts.  Marva brought a copy for all attendees to see.  We will be printing 500 copies initially.  Somali, Hmong, Spanish and English versions will be available. 

Marva would like to consider presenting this flip chart at the national cancer institute cancer patient education network in 2008

4.  Cervical cancer screening message development.  The planned facilitated discussion is now on hold at this time until MDH has had the opportunity to clarify concerns re: the HPV  . 

Dr Winnett mentioned CDC talking points on the HPV vaccine that may be helpful when talking with the public.  It was decided that a portion of the next meeting would be dedicated to this discussion. 

GayLynn plans to sent a thank you letter to the GSK representative for assistance with the funding of this project
