Decision/Action

Coordinating Committee questions

1.       What are major accomplishments of your committee/task force?

- Creation of the web site: www.MNCancerResources.org

2.       How do these accomplishments contribute to reducing cancer burden in Minnesota?

-It gives people access to cancer information & resources.

3.       What is your perception of accomplishments of the Alliance as a whole?

-The accomplishments are not of the Alliance but as pieces of the alliance, what the committees and task forces are doing. There is a disconnect between the steering committee, committees and task forces.

7. What are the goals of your committee/task force for the next year?

-The goal of our task force will be to change into an advisory group that will meet every 2 months to advise Anna on web site needs.

9. If the Alliance could do one thing to reduce the burden of cancer in Minnesota, what would it be?

-The Alliance can’t do just one thing; it must do many things.

10. From your committee/task force perspective, what are the pros and cons of focusing on one key action to reduce the burden of cancer?

-There was a strong consensus that the Alliance should continue to pursue multiple priorities simultaneously

-The Alliance runs the risk of losing vested & passionate volunteers if it chooses just 1 goal. The Alliance needs to pick at least a few goals to keep most volunteers interested in some way.

-The collaborators of the Alliance naturally have many and varied interests.

-In order to achieve comprehensive cancer control the Alliance must come at it from multiple approaches.

-The only way the Alliance could have a single priority is if there were a second tier of priorities rolling up into the single priority.

-It is important to the group that helping people gain access to needed information remain a priority

·         Anna will bring this feedback to the Coordinating Committee

·         We will look at holding a focus group once we have examined what our goals are for the group. We may use this group to rework the resource categories

·         Wait to add across border resources until in state resources are better

·         Work with Nicole to develop a second round of media in Sept or Oct

·         Anna will use her upcoming logic model training to build a plan to increase existing resources and increase awareness of the web site
