Cancer Summit 2009

The Minnesota Cancer Alliance hosted Cancer Summit 2009 on November 17 at Hotel Sofitel in Bloomington. Health care professionals, community outreach workers, advocates and survivors attended this working meeting.

Keynote speaker Jim Chase, Minnesota Community Measurement president, provided an overview of cancer screening data, including how data can impact coalitions to take action.

In addition, this year’s Summit featured:

  • “My Colorectal Cancer Journey” survivor story from Ruth Edstrom
  • Breakout sessions highlighting 2009-2010 Alliance projects
  • Working sessions – including colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and quality of life initiatives – to highlight new projects, identify resources and accelerate progress
  • Spirit of Collaboration Awards

The sixth annual Cancer Summit 2009: Partners in Progress is over, but the work of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance continues. Slides from Summit plenary session and breakout session presentations are available now.
